Denied unemployment?
We prepare your hearing packet —
you represent yourself.
A limited-scope legal service for Wisconsin unemployment appeal claimants who intend to represent themselves. We review what you provide and prepare a written packet with hearing-preparation suggestions.
One written packet.
Limited legal preparation for your Wisconsin hearing.
We review the information you provide and prepare a written packet with suggestions to help you represent yourself at your Wisconsin unemployment appeal hearing.
The packet is based only on your supplied facts and documents. We do not appear at the hearing, contact DWD, file documents, obtain the agency file, contact witnesses, monitor deadlines, or provide ongoing advice unless separately agreed in writing.
Start limited-scope intake- Attorney review of the information and documents you provide
- Review of your hearing notice, determination, appeal documents, and employer materials if supplied
- Issue spotting, burden-of-proof notes, and hearing strategy suggestions
- Witness, exhibit, timeline, and question-preparation suggestions
- Written hearing-preparation packet for your own use at the hearing
- No payment due until the packet is complete and ready for delivery
- $250 fee, subject to any applicable Wisconsin unemployment fee limitation
The packet helps you prepare. You still conduct the hearing.
The hearing officer will weigh testimony, documents, and timelines against the statutory standard for your issue. We help organize what you provide into a written preparation packet, but you remain responsible for testimony, exhibits, deadlines, and the hearing itself.
Common questions
Is there a deadline to appeal an unemployment denial?+
Yes — and it's short. Wisconsin gives you 14 days. You remain responsible for identifying, tracking, and meeting every deadline. This limited service does not include deadline monitoring or filing anything with DWD.
What if my appeal is already filed?+
Yes. The service is limited to a written hearing-preparation packet based on what you provide. We do not contact DWD, obtain the agency file, file documents, or communicate with witnesses unless a separate written agreement says otherwise.
Is the $250 really all I pay?+
The fee for this limited-scope service is $250, subject to any applicable Wisconsin unemployment fee limitation. If $250 would exceed the applicable statutory limit, the fee will be reduced to the maximum permitted amount unless a higher fee is approved by DWD.
Will Attorney Brennan attend the hearing with me?+
No. This service does not include hearing representation. You remain self-represented unless Tyler W. Brennan Law separately agrees in writing to represent you at the hearing.
When do I pay?+
No fee is charged until your packet has been prepared and is ready for delivery. Once the packet is complete, you will be notified and asked to pay the applicable fee. After payment is received, the packet will be delivered to you.
What documents should I provide?+
Provide the hearing notice, determination, appeal documents, employer documents, relevant correspondence, and any other materials needed to understand the issue. The packet is based only on the information and documents you provide, and we do not guarantee any particular outcome.
Do you handle other states besides Wisconsin?+
Not yet — Wisconsin is the only state we currently take appeals in. If you're appealing somewhere else, reach out anyway at tyler@tylerwbrennanlaw.com — we can often point you to a colleague in your state.
